MY SON WAS PROFOUNDLY DEAFENED IN AN ACCIDENT AT THE AGE OF 21… 28 YEARS AGO.THE TINNITUS STARTED RIGHT AFTER…AND THAT IS ALL HE HAS HEARD FOR THESE PAST 28 YEARS. MUSIC (PLAYED GUITAR) WAS HIS LOVE AND ALSO HIS WAY OF RELEASING EMOTIONALLY. I HAVE SEEN HIM GO THROUGH SUCH GREAT SUFFERING ALL THESE YEARS.. I’D GLADLY DONATE ALL I COULD TO HELP WITH STEM CELL WORK FOR RESTORING HEARING. HE, LIKE OTHERS HERE, WAS CAUGHT ETWEEN 2 WORLDS…AND THOSE DEAF ALL THEIR LIVES ARE NOT ALWAYS UNDERSTANDING OF LATER DEAFENED ADULTS. AND THE HEARING…FEW HAVE THE PATIENCE. DISCONNECTION AND LONELYNESS-NO REAL UNDERSTANDING..I WISH I COULD HEAL ALL OF YOU…

They are already doing the stem cell research on humans. I am lined up to do the surgery come this Feb. I will be the third person to have ever done this surgery. I am trying to figure out a way to raise the money for this surgery. I know it is costly but it is worth it. The cure is here in the states. The goverment is trying to hold researchers back from doing this. They have already done the stem cell in different countries. Why is our goverment not pushing for this and backing up the researchers. Like I said I have been in contact with a place in Georgia that is going to line me up with the doctors to do this. They will take the stem cell and transport it and myself to Korea or possibly South America. I just hope I can come up with the money they are asking. I am going on 52 yrs old and I have 4% hearing on one ear and 0% in the other. I would love to hear any thing at this point. The autoimmune disease is taking over my ears and I hate it. I can not run my business like I want and I am willing to sell all for this surgery to take place in Feb. I wish all of you the best of luck and know that you are not alone with this.

I have someone in the family suffering from hearing loss.

Anyone has any IDEAS when they will begin trials on humans? I understand they are carrying out tests on mice, and it’s going well so far.

I just want to know, what’s the next step? What will they be doing? And how long is it estimated to take, for them to start carrying out surgery to restore hearing in humans?

10 years? 20? Any ideas?

Brilliant idea! Of course I’mp probably saying that because I’ve been researching the concept myself. In this country we have 11 official languages ( yes, 11! ). Can you imagine how how much of a challenge communication is? Also, in some cultures here it is normal to speak extremely fast and it’s clear that inadequate training is given to the counter staff. Time and time again the order is wrong. Surly staff just put us off our meal altogether. Very irritating!
I think that a touch screen system is a big initial outlay but way cheaper than paying wages on an ongoing basis. I’d go to a place that had this, rather than the “mmmhf huh? you wanna m;dmdm with your msmdm blegbahh himmm huahh?” currently.

It have noticed that all of us with hearing loss experience the same feelings of isolation. I hope that all of our prayers are answered very soon through stem cell research.
